Confirel has been selected to represent Cambodia at the upcoming World Without Hunger Conference (WWHC), which will take place from November 5-7, 2024, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This prestigious event is co-organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the Government of Ethiopia, with technical assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The conference will gather over 1,500 high-level stakeholders, including Heads of State/Government, Ministers, UN agencies, private sector leaders, financial institutions, civil society organizations, academia, and media, to discuss and tackle the global challenges of hunger and malnutrition.

“Hunger and malnutrition remain among the most critical challenges facing humanity. Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires a well-coordinated effort among all stakeholders,” the conference organizers stated. The World Without Hunger Conference will feature technical sessions, an Investment Forum, and a high-level policy forum, all focused on finding actionable solutions to end global hunger.

Confirel at the Investment Forum

Dr. Hay Ly Eang will represent Confirel and speak on the second day of the Investment Forum, which aims to showcase investment opportunities in agribusiness infrastructure, technology, and renewable energy. The forum is designed to create a platform for governments, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and startups to present innovative agricultural projects to potential investors, helping build a world without hunger.

Confirel’s Sustainable Cocoa Cultivation Project, which aims to plant 1 million cacao trees in Cambodia by 2029, is a centerpiece of their efforts. This project not only positions Cambodia as an emerging player in the premium cacao market but also focuses on environmental sustainability and economic empowerment for local communities. By integrating agroforestry practices, Confirel is promoting climate resilience, with the project expected to sequester 200,000 tons of CO2 over 20 years, while providing sustainable income opportunities for Cambodian farmers, particularly women.

“With our sustainable cocoa farming project in Cambodia, we are not just planting trees,” Dr. Hay will tell participants. “We are sowing the seeds of a sustainable future and creating a unique Cambodian chocolate experience. This project is about much more than chocolate—it’s about community empowerment, climate action, and creating a model for sustainable agribusiness.”

A Global Platform for Innovation and Collaboration

Confirel’s participation in the World Without Hunger Conference highlights the company's leadership in sustainable agriculture and its commitment to driving positive change. The Investment Forum is expected to generate significant interest from international investors looking to support SME-based agricultural projects that contribute to food security and sustainable development.

The event offers a unique opportunity for Confirel to present Cambodia’s innovative approach to cacao cultivation and its broader vision for ethical and environmentally responsible agribusiness. By participating in this global platform, Confirel hopes to inspire further collaboration and investment in projects that can help build a more sustainable and hunger-free world.
